World Figure Skating Hall of Fame to Honor Japan’s Nobuo Sato

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 10, 2012) – World Figure Skating Hall of Fame member Nobuo Sato of Japan will be honored today at the World Arena at Colorado Springs prior to the men’s free skate at the 2012 ISU Four Continents of Figure Skating Championships. Sato was inducted into the hall of fame in 2010.

From 1956 to ‘66, Sato won 10 consecutive Japanese men’s titles. He represented Japan at the 1960 and 1964 Olympic Winter Games. In 1965, Sato took fourth place at the World Championships, held in Colorado Springs.

Sato is best known as a coach, having trained Olympic and World champions, including his daughter, 1994 World champion Yuka Sato.

The World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, located in Colorado Springs, Colo., was established in 1976 to honor distinguished athletes, coaches and contributors to the sport of figure skating.
