U.S. Figure Skating Fantasy Football – Week 12 Recap

19 Nov

After the twelfth week of the inaugural U.S. Figure Skating Fantasy Football League, Ashley Wagner remains atop the league standings as the playoff picture starts to take shape. Eight of the ten teams can still make the playoffs. If the season were to end today, #1 Ashley Wagner would face #4 Max Aaron and #2 Ross Miner would square off with #4 Chris Knierim. Here’s what happened last week:

Coach Coughlin (John Coughlin |@JohnCoughlinUSA) def. Snowplow Sam, 74-57

John Coughlin’s team cruised to a double-digit win over Snowplow Sam’s team to stay in the playoff hunt. Snowplow’s team had two players score zero points, and wasn’t helped by three others who scored less than five points. Russell Wilson led the way for Coughlin (ironically against Coughlin’s hometown Kansas City Chiefs) with 22 points. A.J. Green also contributed 18 points.

Team Aaron (Max Aaron | @MaxTAaron) def. Team Knierim (Chris Knierim | @ChrisKnierim), 98-97

Max Aaron’s squad edged Chris Knierim’s team for a critical divisional win as we enter the final three weeks of the season. Knierim just needed one more point from the Steelers’ Antonio Brown on Monday night to force a tie. Knierim is almost guaranteed to make the playoffs, but Aaron is one of four teams vying for the second playoff spot.

Team Bates (Evan Bates | @Evan_Bates) def. Team Thah ‘D’(Ricky Dornbush | @RichardDornbush), 105-68

Team Bates got a huge win over Team Thad ‘D’, helping the Rostelecom Cup gold medalist keep pace in the very competitive West Division. Bates was led by Rodgers (28), Eddie Lacy (22), Alshon Jeffery (19) and Michael Floyd (17). Dornbush’s team, which has now lost four straight points by an average of 31.75 points, has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Team Bradley (Ryan Bradley | @RyanSBradley) def. Miner Problem (Ross Miner | @rossminer), 124-76

Ross Miner’s miner problem fell to Ryan Bradley squad in a blowout, missing a chance to clinch a playoff spot. Miner still sits in good position, needing just one win in the final three weeks to make the playoffs. Bradley was led by Mike Evans’ 32 points and Le’Veon Bell’s 27 points, whose three top scorers outdid Bradley’s entire team.

Team A-Wags (Ashley Wagner | @AshWagner2010) def. Team White (Charlie White | @CharlieaWhite), 82-52

After dropping her first contest of the year last week, Ashley Wagner’s team regained its winning ways, beating Team White by 30 points. Though Andy Dalton scored 21 points, no one else scored over nine points. Wagner has clinched a playoff spot, but still has to win two games to be guaranteed the top seed. Charlie White’s team has been eliminated from the playoff picture.
